Your Bathroom Checklist

Back to JD & Assoc.

If you plan on remodeling your bathroom in the near future, there are a few steps you can take to simplify the project.

First, have a general idea of the style bathroom that you desire. For example, you may just need a plain bathroom. Nothing fancy, with generic fixtures. You may want to elaborate a little with a larger vanity, color coordinated fixtures and a tile floor. If you really need a place to call your own you may opt for a Jacuzzi set in a tile platform, with a glass wall shower, and his and hers grooming areas. These are generally referred to as low, middle, and high end baths.

Once you have a general idea of the "range" of bathroom, it's time to go over a simple list of the items that will need to be chosen for your bath. Most of these items can be located via our Products page. Write down the name and model number of the items that interest you.

       Your Checklist .....

  • If you have an existing window, will it be replaced. ( Vinyl replacement or Wood )
  • Pick a shower/bath, Do you need a bath tub or just a stand up shower stall.
  • Pick a toilet style ( color should match the tub unit)
  • Vanity size and style. (If you would like a larger vanity? Make sure you have the room)
  • Countertop style. I.E. cultured marble, laminate, corian, etc.,
  • Are you going to have a medicine chest? Recessed or wall mounted?
  • Would you like standard plastered walls or maybe tile?
  • Choose a floor covering (generally tile or vinyl/linoleum)
  • Every bathroom needs to be ventilated by a fan. You can have a fan alone or a combination of fan/light, or even a fan/light with heat.
  • The last thing would be towel racks paper holder etc.. If using any of these, tell your contractor so that solid blocking can be installed inside the walls.

Your contractor will go over these items with you, and assist you with some of the choices. The more you know about your choices, the happier you will be with the finished product.
