    Ceramic Tile Calculator

Ceramic tile is one of the best ways to compliment a room that you have just remodeled. Even a generic remodel looks "high end" with the addition of ceramic tile.

Ceramic tile comes in a large variety of colors and sizes. You should have a pretty good idea of a rough size and color before shopping. You can use any size you want too, but typically, the larger the room the larger the tile. Although I have seen 12 x 12 tiles in a bath, imagine a 20'x20' room with 2" tiles. Look at Ceramic tile products.

Most tile suppliers along with the big discount stores, will let you buy samples, or even lend them to you. Take advantage of this!!! Once you narrow down your search, buy a couple of each tile and set the on the floor of choice. It is much easier to match colors to walls or accessories at home.

Tools For Ceramic Tile

  • Knee Pads
  • 2 or 3 plastic buckets
  • Paddle mixer
  • chalk line
  • tape measure
  • notched trowel
  • tile cutter or saw
  • large sponges
  • tile spacers
  • grout float

The Tile sizes available in the calculator are the most popular sizes used. Especially for the do it yourselfer. If you plan to use mosaics, elaborate patterns, or custom sized tile, then you defiantly need a pro to assess your project.

First choose a tile size
Enter the width of the area
Enter the length of the area

  W x L = tot sq/ft

selected tile size

sqft * 36 = # 2x2 tile
sqft * 9 = #4x4 tile
sqft * 4 = # 6x6 tile
sqft * 2.25 = # 8x8 tile
sqft * 1 = # 12x12 tile

with results add...   tot sqft / 50 = "approx. gallons of tile mastic required"
